Description

PEACEPLUS is supported by the European Union, the UK Government, the Northern Ireland Executive and the Irish Government. It is managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). PEACEPLUS comprises six themes, which encompass 22 individual investment areas. Council has produced a PEACEPLUS Action Plan through a comprehensive co-design process, which complements community planning, including existing good relations approaches. The Action Plan enables diverse partnerships, led by Council, to establish and invest in key actions, which will make a significant and lasting contribution to peace and reconciliation at the local council area level. The Action Plan centres around three established thematic strands: 1. Local Community Regeneration and Transformation 2. Thriving and Peaceful Communities 3. Building Respect for all Cultural Identities PEACEPLUS will invest in the creation of peaceful, prosperous and thriving communities to build a strong sense of place, develop and manage strong connections which result in local community led transformation and celebrate cultural diversity. The Youth Programme falls under The Thriving and Peaceful Communities theme, which will invest in cross-community collaboration to jointly identify issues and opportunities in areas and develop collaborative projects to address these and bring about positive change in communities. It will build and sustain relationships between people from different communities across a wide range of sectors. Thriving and peaceful communities are defined by people with high levels of individual wellbeing; who manage strong relationships and connections; and are empowered to lead targeted and transformative programmes.
