Landsvirkjun is developing a 30 MW battery energy storage project in Iceland. The battery energy storage system (BESS) will be co-located at Landsvirkjun’s 690 MW Fljótsdalur hydropower plant in the eastern part of Iceland and will be connected to the Icelandic electricity transmission grid. The project is currently in the engineering design phase. As part of Landsvirkjun’s work towards an investment decision on the project, Landsvirkjun is currently seeking information from interested BESS suppliers regarding the technology, scope of delivery and estimated price for suitable BESS for this project.
