The Office of Public Works (OPW) are in the process of redeveloping Roscrea Castle and Damer House, due to be opened to the public in Summer 2026. Roscrea Castle, Gardens and Damer House in the heart of Roscrea in County Tipperary, one of the oldest towns in Ireland, you will find a magnificent stone motte castle dating from the 1280s. It was used as a barracks from 1798, housing 350 soldiers, and later served as a school, a library and a sanatorium. Sharing the castle grounds is Damer House, named for local merchant John Damer, who came into possession of the castle in the eighteenth century. The house is a handsome example of pre-Palladian early 18th century architecture. The grounds also include an impressive garden with a fountain, which makes Roscrea Castle a very pleasant destination for a day out. There is also a nearby restored mill managed by OPW displaying St Crónán’s high cross and pillar stone. Imagemakers Design and Consultancy were appointed by OPW as the Exhibition Design Company for the project. With Imagemakers acting as lead liaison for the project, OPW now seek to commission an an experienced contractor to develop, produce, store and install a series of high-quality exhibition displays, graphics and signage. As part of this project there will be several AV experiences which are being tendered for separately. The details of the AV tender can be found on eTenders. Information on the Audio Visual locations and briefs can also be found in the design document.
