This Scheme aims to deliver improved safety, comfort and security for cyclists, pedestrians and the mobility impaired and to encourage an uptake in cycling as a viable and safe commuter / student travel mode. This objective is to be achieved through the delivery of infrastructure, which is designed in compliance with the Cycle Design Manual (CDM), the National Cycle Manual (NCM), the Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets (DMURS), Safe Routes to School Design Guide, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Publications and the Traffic Management Guidelines (TMG’s) and through a National Transport Authority (NTA) review process. Phases 1-4 has been completed. NTA funding approval is in place to allow the scheme to progress. The proposed design will include the following: • A redeveloped path with an average width of 3.5m along the northern side of Corbally Road from Scoil Ide to the entrance to St Munchin’s College; • Resurfacing of the existing footpath along the southern side of Corbally Road from Lanahrone Avenue junction to Shannon Drive junction; • 3 no. new raised pedestrian crossings along Corbally Road; • New Junction tightening measures at Roseville Gardens junction, Lanahrone Avenue junction and St. Munchin’s College junction to reduce vehicle speeds and increase safety for vulnerable road users; • Realignment of entrance and widening of gates at St. Munchin’s College to facilitate 2-way traffic; • New low-level planting, soft landscaping, hedging and trees.
