DeiC (The Danish e-Infrastructure Cooperation) operates and develops the Danish NREN (National Research and Education Network), called “Forskningsnettet”. This network provides both connections to the research networks in the world, general internet provision for its connected institutions as well as numerous point-to-point optical layer 1 connections between the institutions. The connected institutions comprise all Danish universities as well as most other research and education institutions in the country. Over the past 10 years, Forskningsnettet has built a nationwide DWDM network based on the Ribbon/ECI Apollo DWDM system. The current procurement agreement is nearing its expiration, and Forskningsnettet therefore wishes to establish a new agreement covering the procurement of modules for the network as well as the operation/support of the existing network.
